My 2002 1.9tdi (six speed) drives OK but after about 80 miles it develops a severe vibration from the driver side, and even caused a tyre failure on that side, if I leave the car to cool down and set off again it comes back.  So now I have a new complete o/s drive shaft assemby ready to install.  Does anyone have clear details of the four pieces that fit onto the stub shaft that goes into the transmission ?  I presume the order is spring, disc, collar and finally circlip, but I notice there is no circlip groove on the new shaft so that is confusing.  . Any advice about how to install the shaft retaining bolt against the load of the spring ?

i cant remember the order the parts went in.....but I do remember using a large crowbar to push the stub shaft into the box to compress spring--then I was able to get the allen bolt in.

I have see that message threat thanks- it almost clarifies the correct order of the parts but not quite.  I beleive the order above is correct but I still don't see the logic of the circlip.
